Useful Tips for Clearing the UPSEE Examination
The Uttar Pradesh State Engineering Entrance, or UPSEE (also called as UPTU, GBTU, and UPTU) is the state entrance examination of Uttar Pradesh, conducted by the UP Technical University for students seeking admission to undergraduate engineering courses in Uttar Pradesh. Aspirants for engineering courses in colleges affiliated to UPTU must attempt the UPSEE. Selections are made on the basic of the UPSEE scores and rank obtained in the UPTU.
Cracking UPSEE is not easy, but it is not impossible either. Given below are some useful tips for students who are preparing for the UPSEE:
Tip #1: The first and indeed the most important tip for clearing the UPSEE exam is to know the exam well, including the exam pattern, syllabus, important chapters and exam notifications. UPSEE question paper contains a total of 150 questions worth 600 marks. Questions are from physics, mathematics, and chemistry and all the sections carry the same weight. Every question carries 4 marks and there are no negative marking. Candidates are supposed to give only one answer to each question. There is paper 2 which only biotech engineering aspirants can opt to write.
Tip #2: In order to be eligible for the UPSEE, B tech aspirants must have passed intermediate from UP Board or 10+2 from a recognized board or university. Candidates must have scored a minimum 45% in the concerned subjects in the qualifying exam. Candidates must have studied physics and mathematics as compulsory subjects along with chemistry, bio-technology, biology or technical vocational as optional subjects.
Tip #3: An important step to any entrance exam preparation is to know your strengths and weaknesses. You may be strong in physics, average in mathematics and clueless in chemistry. It is important to know your limitations and strengths as it will help you improve your strengths and turn your weaknesses into your strengths. You can ignore weaknesses that are not crucial from the exam point of view.
Tip #4: Learning different chapters alone is not enough. In the final exam of the UPSEE, you need to answer the questions. Practice very hard and do not move ahead until you are perfectly clear on a chapter. It is advisable to pick a chapter that you are weak in and one that is important from the exam point of view. Prioritize the chapters from the exam standpoint and if you have not revised them or not practiced enough questions on them, pick them first. If there are any new chapters and there is not enough time left for the examination, leave them as it may create stress and may lead to wasting time.
Tip #5: Take the mock tests. Mock tests would help you understand the UPSEE exam paper better. You will get to know what type of questions are asked and how much time you take to answer those questions. Depending on the scores of the mock test you can gear up your preparations for the actual exam.
Tip #6: It is important to study hard and prepare seriously for UPSEE and other entrance examination. But it is important to exercise, read books, go for swimming, and indulge in other activities too while you are preparing for the UPSEE. Doing so will help relieve the stress and would keep your mind and body fresh to take up the intellectual and competitive challenges.
